Today in class which took place in the computer lab room 2.120A. First make sure that if you do not have Inventing.the.University print it out. We first spent time making sure that everyone set up their class and personal blogs. Then Dr. Chalaire explained and showed the class how to upload our documents to our personal blog. You should have 2 essays that need to be uploaded. Here are the instructions on how to upload the document:
    1. Get into your Gmail account. (If you don't have one then you need to get one set up.)
    2. Once in you are in your Gmail then click on documents.
    3. Then click the upload button on the left of the page.
    4. Next select "Files to Upload".
    5. Then click get files.(Make sure your document is in .pdf format)You can download a program that will do it for you at (primopdf).
    6. Once the documents are uploaded you will need to post them to you personal blog.

Here are the steps to do that:
1.First check mark the document you want to post.
    2. Then click on share.
    3. Then click on get link.
    4. Next click on Allow.
    5. After that Get URL
    6. Last highlight and copy.

Now you need to get in your personal blog.
    1. First click on customize.
    2. Click the tab that says Layout. And select Page Elements.
    3. Now click "Add Gadget" to the right of the page.
4.Then a window will pop up. Scroll down and click on the page that says List Link.
    5. Then you should get "Configure Link List". In the title box type "Papers". In the URL box erase whats in it and then paste the URL that you copied in the box. In the "New site Name" box and put in the name of your paper.
    6. Then click the "Add Link" button.
    7. After that click the Save button. Then you can click on View Blog and on the right side of your blog should be the paper(s) you added.

Next the teacher talked about what we should be working on and finishing.
If you look on this page there is a section that has two assignments. You need to do the Quiz section in reference to templates. Use quotes from the text and make sure you cite them with the page numbers.
Then 2nd assignment you need to do is on page 13 of your textbook. To do this assignment use the 4 articles you should have (including the University one) as the sources to reference.
You should be finishing your Q&Rs Make sure you click on comment instead on making a new post. When doing the Q&Rs you need to put your comment or question that deals with the article that we are working on. Then you must respond to other students.
    Whats due on Thursday:
In class we will be getting into our groups and giving our presentations.
You can ask any questions you may have but when you comment make sure you put the date.

NOTE: Thursday the 25th there will be no class because Dr. Chalaire will be out.

  10. CLASS MINUTES 2/11/10

1.Today in class we started by talking about the class minutes; every class there will be one person assingned to take the class minutes.
2.Make sure to have the assignment sheet all the time to be aware of what is due during the week, remember we have lab every Tuesday.
3.Due Tuesday's Q&R and quiz (if present at class or not the papers are due on Tuesdays and should be posted in the blog, one of the reasons we go to the lab is to have time to do our assignments so take advantage of the lab)
4.Due Thursday's presentations also group work(to get organized with presentations)
5.There will be presentations every week and it counts as participation grade(if only one group member is doing all the work or is the only one to actually do his work the grade will count as individual, if all the members from the group do their work a higher grade is possible.
6.Be sure to do your part of the presentation because there is no making up for presentations and you will be graded on your work if you did it and your group members will not.
7.Be sure to talk about what the article is about;the author is trying to inform...and what are they doing and how are they doing it
8.When doing the definitions relate them to what you are doing in your presentation.
    9.Introduce your article
    10.Next presentation will be wardle
    11. this article is written for compositors.
12.By week 6 everybody should be submitting their papers on time
13.Everything will be tag as Week# to make sure everyone is on track.
If you guys have any questions i will be checking the blog often

  11. Janeth for the Acts of Revision you need to do an essay and then you need to come up with a comment or question and post it under the Q&R and comment on two other students at least. Then you should also be doing an essay with your group to present in front of the class. Note: we will be doing this for all of the articles that we are given.

  13. class minutes for thursday 03/04/2010

    1. we discussed on the 3 major goals of english 1301 & 1302.
    these goals were:
#1. read/ analyze/ make meaning from complex texts, using a "set of strategies" to "diologue" with the authors.
#2.engage in a "process of writing" which leads students to what we're calling "engaged revision".
#3. use writing to learn something new.
2.we took a quiz over these goals asking the following: to write what we think about these goals, and if we have meet this class goals, which goals have we meet, and what it is needed to complete them.
    3. "YOU CAN'T MAKE UP THIS QUIZ"!!!!
4.we also discussed about the future essays that will be assigned. she will talk more about it on tuesday.

  14. From the other section:

    Cameron Miller said...
    Tuesday March 23

While you were out skipping class. Dr. Chalaire changed up the schedule and this i think is how it is now.

March 30 Tuesday-1st rough draft of the research paper due, pretty much just do like Bishop says and become an owl and just fill up those pages because we might not use all of what we're going to write on them

April 1 Thursday-annotated bibligraphy is due there should be ten sources the seven articles and the three other ones from the Elbow-Barthomea paper

April 6 Tuesday- peer reviews of rough draft are due and when we leave the comments Dr. C would like us to Praise-Question-Plan(PQP)
it suppose to benefit everyonr. Making the reader think of questions the whole time having to pay attention to it and the writer gets constructive criticism

April 8 Thursday- the 2nd reflective essay will be due. It will need to be put on the personal blog. It should include experience, reading and i forgot the last one but something like how the class helped os something like that.
